Hum 2230/C – Baby Jesus

According to the Nativity story, Mary and Joseph could not find a proper cradle in the stable. Therefore, they laid the Baby Jesus in a manger — a depiction that remains one of the most iconic symbols of the Christmas story to this day. In the Hummel Nativity scene, the Infant Jesus also rests in a small wooden crib. This motif has been cherished in Christian art since the 3rd century and continues to represent the true essence of Christmas. The name Jesus was chosen by His mother Mary at the command of the angels.
