Hum 2230/O – Lamb, Lying Down

For many, it may seem like just a decorative addition to the nativity scene — but for us, it’s an essential part of the story: our white lambs. In the Bible, the presence of animals at the manger is not explicitly recorded, yet it’s easy to imagine the shepherds bringing their lambs along when they came to see the newborn Savior.

Animals in the stable appear only in one of the two biblical accounts of the Nativity — the Gospel of Luke, written between 80 and 90 AD. In that version, it is the ox and the donkey who greet Mary and Joseph, warm the Christ Child, and welcome Him into the world. These humble animals remind us of Jesus’ simple birthplace and His modest beginnings.

The lying lamb complements the nativity scene perfectly, along with the standing lamb (HUM 2230/P) and the little calf (HUM 2230/M).
