Hum 2438 – Gingerbread Joy

A visit to the Christmas market has certainly paid off for our Hummel boy: he simply couldn’t resist the magic of gingerbread with its delicious scent of cinnamon and managed to get himself an especially large piece. Bundled up warmly in his pointed hat and gloves, he now stands beaming with joy over his sweet treasure.

For generations, gingerbread – or Pfefferkuchen, as it is especially called in Saxony and Thuringia – has been inseparably linked with Christmas and its unmistakable flavor. The decorated gingerbread hearts remain favorites for both young and old alike. Our little Hummel boy, however, seems torn: will he use his piece to build a gingerbread house, or will he give in and enjoy the treat right away?
