Why buy from Steinbach?
With a lantern in hand, the little angel from the Hummel Manufactory in Rödental creates a warm and peaceful atmosphere. Kneeling gently, the angel carefully tends to the small light to keep it from going out. This figurine was modeled by Reinhold Unger in 1958 and became available on the American market in 1972.
Since 1935, the beloved Hummel figurines have been traditionally handmade in Rödental, Franconia, Germany. The Hummel Manufactory continues to base its creations on the original drawings of the Franciscan Sister M.I. Hummel from the Convent of Sießen. Born Berta Hummel in Massing, Bavaria, she graduated at the top of her class from the State School of Applied Arts in Munich. Her drawings of children engaged in everyday activities, play, or nature are known around the world.
Only the Hummel Manufactory is authorized to use the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel as the inspiration and design foundation for these figurines.
