Why buy from Steinbach?
Were you good this year? On December 6th, St. Nicholas visits the children and asks about their behavior. Even the bravest little ones suddenly turn shy. With trembling voices, they recite their memorized verses, touching the heart of the holy man. The rod remains tucked under his arm – and there it stays. Instead, the enticing gifts glisten from the sack he has brought along. What a beautiful St. Nicholas figure!
In 1996, master sculptor Helmut Fischer created this classic piece, capturing the magic of St. Nicholas Day with masterful detail. On his way through the dark winter forest, Nicholas carries his lantern to light the night, dressed in a warm red coat with hood and gloves. His kindly gaze falls upon the small boy before him, bundled up in coat and scarf, so hurried in his excitement that he has even forgotten his slippers at home. Luckily, he’s still wearing his socks! And for his bravely recited poem, the boy receives a special gift from Nicholas’ hand.
Since 1935, the beloved Hummel figurines have been traditionally crafted in Germany, based on the original drawings of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. Her depictions of children, drawn from everyday life and moments of play, have touched the hearts of collectors around the world. To this day, only the Hummel Manufaktur is authorized to faithfully bring her artistic vision to life in fine porcelain.
