Hum 2230/G – Melchior

Melchior, Caspar, and Balthasar – the Three Wise Men.
They are perhaps the most famous trio from the biblical Christmas story and have become an essential part of the Christmas season. As the three Magi from the East bearing their famous gifts, they followed a shining star that led them to the stable in Bethlehem.

"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the East came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’" (from the Gospel of Matthew)

In the stable, they presented their well-known gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Melchior — depicted here with light hair, a crown, and a green cloak — brings the gift of gold. The Hummel figurine captures this beautifully, showing him holding a small treasure chest with the gold crafted in fine detail.
