Hum 323 – Wall Plaque – Merry Christmas

The little angel holding a large glowing candle wishes everyone a Merry Christmas. The candle is so tall that it even towers above our small heavenly messenger. With curious eyes, he gazes at the flame that lights up the sky. His wings are spread wide, and tiny stars shimmer across his robe, reflecting the candlelight.

This is just how many people imagine angels in heaven. For Maria Innocentia, angels were an essential part of her faith, which is why she created a series of angel-themed drawings. Several of these have been transformed into figurines in various forms by the Hummel Manufactory. The Merry Christmas wall plaque is especially popular as a beautiful decoration during the Advent and Christmas season — likely because it perfectly complements the angel figurines produced by Hummel.

Master sculptor Gerhard Skrobek created this charming little angel back in 1955. It was first introduced to the market in 1979 in the United States.
