Why buy from Steinbach?
Hopefully, the wind won’t blow out my candle! Protectively, the kneeling angel holds his hand in front of it. Devoutly and with full concentration, the little heavenly messenger gazes at the glowing flame. This Hummel figurine was created by Reinhold Unger in 1958 and became available on the American market in 1972. Together with Hum 357 (Kneeling Angel with Lantern) and Hum 359 (Sitting Angel with Horn), the three angels form a charming trio.
Since 1935, the beloved Hummel figurines have been traditionally handmade in Rödental, Franconia, Germany. The Hummel Manufactory continues to base its creations on the original drawings of the Franciscan Sister M.I. Hummel from the Convent of Sießen. Born Berta Hummel in Massing, Bavaria, she graduated at the top of her class from the State School of Applied Arts in Munich. Her drawings of children engaged in everyday activities, play, or in nature are world-famous.
Only the Hummel Manufactory is authorized to use the artwork of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel as the inspiration and foundation for the design of its figurines.
