Why buy from Steinbach?
The legend of Knecht Ruprecht is nearly as old as the story of humankind itself. Known as the stern companion of St. Nicholas, he became infamous in the Advent season as the one who would admonish children to behave. His traditional instrument of discipline was the birch rod.
With his long grey beard, piercing dark eyes, and fearsome disguise, Knecht Ruprecht was both dreaded and respected. Folklore also held that his presence could drive away evil spirits.
This detailed porcelain figure was newly crafted in 2023 by the Hummel Manufaktur in Rödental. Depicted in a soft blue robe, with a lantern in one hand and a bundle of twigs under his arm, he represents both warning and guidance during the cold winter nights. A small fir tree at his side adds to the seasonal charm of the scene.
Each piece is finely handcrafted and painted with the renowned artistry of Hummel Manufaktur, making it a collector’s item of enduring cultural significance.
