Smoker Hedgehog

Bring a charming touch of woodland character to your home with the Incense Smoker – Brown Hedgehog, a delightful handcrafted wooden figure created by our FRIEND partner Gahlenz. This whimsical Räuchermann combines traditional Erzgebirge craftsmanship with a playful animal design, making it a lovely addition to Christmas decorations and year-round folk-art collections alike.

Designed as a friendly brown hedgehog, this figure features a warm natural color palette, a rounded body, expressive painted eyes, a black nose, and a cheerful face full of personality. Its textured “spines” and simple walking stick add to the hedgehog’s rustic charm and give the figure a distinctive, storybook-like appearance. The open mouth and pipe emphasize its traditional smoker function, while the handmade details reflect the craftsmanship and care that make Erzgebirge wooden figures so beloved.

As a traditional incense smoker, the figure can be used with suitable incense cones to create the cozy fragrance and atmosphere associated with German Christmas traditions. Once the incense cone is placed inside, the smoke gently rises through the figure’s mouth, bringing the little hedgehog charmingly to life and adding warmth and character to any festive setting.

Carefully handcrafted from wood and finished with great attention to detail, the Incense Smoker – Brown Hedgehog reflects the quality and tradition of Erzgebirge woodworking. Whether displayed on a shelf, windowsill, mantel, or as part of a larger collection of smokers and handcrafted wooden figures, this cheerful hedgehog adds humor, charm, and a touch of forest magic to your home.

This figure is manufactured by our FRIEND Gahlenz. STEINBACH Volkskunst offers this unique piece in its online shop but does not manufacture the item itself.

Whether as a gift or as part of your own collection, the Incense Smoker – Brown Hedgehog brings together traditional craftsmanship, playful design, and the unmistakable charm of Erzgebirge wooden folk art.
